OTSI (Isolated System Optimization) and SSI (Isolated System Simulation) software programs perform optimal dimensioning and operation simulation of generator sets that meet a given demand curve. The optimal dimensioning supplies the number, nominal power and operation of generating units for a minimum cost of generated power.
The software programs take into account the various costs involved in power generation by diesel generator sets, such as fuel cost, investment cost and operation and maintenance costs. In addition they optimize the generator operation.
Therefore, they are a management tool to choose the ideal generator set for new thermal parks, aiming at minimum generation cost. They also allow assessing the operation conditions of existent thermal parks in relation to fuel consumption.
OTSI and SSI have a graphic interface easy to use and include a database with technical characteristics of existent generator sets which can be expanded by the user. OTSI software presents up to five different configurations of generator sets aiming at reducing generation cost. The costs used in the calculation models were based on information obtained from generator manufacturers.
The main users of the sistem are Eletrobras and electric power utilities.
